  • Time Out for Fun

I’ve been having a great time traveling for some cool events over the last few weeks. I’ve gotten to present a couple of MSDN Events in Reston and Richmond, VA. Along with my peers Zhiming Xue and Ashish Jaiman, I presented at MSDN Roadshows in Roanoke, VA, and Baltimore, MD. Just this Saturday I got to hang out with a bunch of geeks at the ...

  • Video: New Features Coming in Zune 3

I am definitely looking forward to this. Hope to see blue in the the larger sizes, too. I think it’s fair to say that the WiFi features are definitely coming into their own. More information here. Oh, and all of the new features will be available for ALL Zunes, including the original Zune 30. No device left behind. No forced upgrades.

  • A day in Baltimore

Great day yesterday. Drove up to Baltimore to spend some quality time with the community up there. Beautiful day to be in Charm City. Had lunch with Randy Hayes (President of the CMAP user group), Ed Mullin (President of BaltoMSDN), and Christopher Steen (programming director of CMAP) at Sliders across from Camden Yards. Apparently yesterday’s ...

  • Charity Fragathon…cool idea!

Great idea from Chris Williams and the Twin Cities XNA User Group: The Twin Cities XNA User Group is throwing their first ever charity event! Admission to this event is $10 (ten bucks!!) and that covers entry into what just might be the biggest Halo 3 tournament you've ever seen. We'll also have a room set aside for Rock Band 2 and of course ...

  • Baltimore Zoo

In my last post, I mentioned taking a family trip to the Baltimore Zoo. For folks in the area who haven’t been there, I’d definitely recommend making the trip, as there are great opportunities to get up close with animals that you will rarely see. Here are some photos from the trip: Here’s a Kookaburra, which has the largest head I’ve seen ...

  • My Childhood Returns...

...courtesy of hulu.com: Johnny Sokko and his Flying Robot Between this and Ultra Man, many after-school hours were well-spent. Thanks to Frank La Vigne for helping me find yet another way to lose hours from my day. And yes, I'm in a "fun-post" mood this morning. More substantive stuff is on the way...

  • Software Development Meme - My Turn

OK, so Pete tagged me, and now I guess I'm it: How old were you when you first started programming? I would say around 10 or 11, judging from the release date of the Commodore PET, which was the first machine that I wrote code for. How did you get started in programming? Oddly enough, like Pete, one of the early programs I wrote was a BASIC ...
